Bhangarh.. The most haunted place in india

Image
Bhangarh Fort – you hear this name every time someone talks about the most haunted places in India. You hear the horror stories of people who tried to enter the premises after dark. Yes, officially you are not allowed to enter the Bhangarh Fort premises from sunset to sunrise. I heard about it from travelers, in newspapers, and in books. However, it took me a long time and a serendipitous detour to reach Bhangarh. This Jaipur Trip I had Chand Baori on my plan. Bhangarh made an appearance in the dinner conversation the night before we were to visit Chand Baori. The stories worked their magic and Bhangarh walked into our itinerary for the next day. We still stayed loyal to Chand Baori and visited Bhangarh on our way back. Why is Bhangarh Fort Haunted? Ruins of Haunted Bhangarh Fort There are two popular legends about the cursed, abandoned, deserted and haunted Bhangarh Fort. First one says that a saint used to inhabit this hill. When the king wanted to build a fort for his son. Sain

Happiness Nation BHUTAN

Bhutan Himalayas While talking about the kingdom of Bhutan, nothing much really comes to mind; except for some basic facts like it lies in the Eastern Himalayas and is a landlocked country wedged between India and China. But, most of us don’t have the slightest clue about what this small country actually is. It has been enveloped in mystery for a long time, until the curtain, which has kept it hidden from the eyes of the world, slowly started lifting and the universe got to know that Bhutan is considered the happiest place on earth. Not only that, but it also measures its growth and development by calculating the Gross National Happiness? Yes, that’s true! While other countries are in the race to become a superpower and strengthen their economy, Bhutan refuses to run after materialistic development and rather focuses on its heritage and values. Ever since the time it has been inhabited, which was around 2000 BC, as per archaeological findings, the people of this kingdom have been cu

Best treks in september to october

Don’t you just hate it when it is September and raining continuously, and you cannot do anything, but sit stupidly at home? Well, I do and I am about to get really sick of it. I want to go out, damn it! And, I will. Who cares if it is raining and what if we get a little wet?! At least we will have some fun. So, here is the formula! Let’s just brave the rains and head out wherever our desire takes us. Now, for a long time, my mind has been fixed on trekking. Most people, I talked to on this front, told me that trekking should not be done in the monsoon. They said that the path will be slippery, there might be a danger of landslides and that the weather will be horribly humid. But, I have a habit of doing things, I know I am not supposed to. This is the whole point of adventure and thrill, isn’t it? So, to satisfy my thirst for ‘insanity’, I sat on my laptop, searching for what all treks I could go for in September when the rains are at their heaviest. To my amazement, there were other

Nepal ranks among the most peaceful nations in the world, be it in terms of the culture, people, landscape or the social setup. Home to the great Mount Everest and nestled in the magnificent Himalayan Mountain Range, Nepal’s economy thrives on tourism and it sees an influx of thousands of tourists from across the globe. Having the highest peak in the world certainly helps boost tourism in the country, but Nepal contains several other sights and gems, which are worth visiting for adventure aficionados. From time to time, there are things one needs to do that are not in synchronisation with convention, thereby making it all the more exciting and intriguing. A trek to the Annapurna Range could aptly be characterised as one such activity, which a lot of people do not undertake out of fear, but should definitely try. As confessed by French mountaineer,  Maurice Herzog ,  “Annapurna, to which we had gone emptyhanded, was a treasure on which we should live the rest of our days. With this re

Top Travel Experiences in Northeast India Add caption in Share Save My first tour to North-east India was to the land of proud Ahoms – Assam, and it was pure bliss; from relishing local delicacies and enjoying natural vistas to my interactions with some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. Here is my pick of the best travel experiences in northeast India. This protected region, which lies in the Nagaon and Golaghat districts of Assam, was set up in 1908. It is not only home to a high density of great one-horned rhinoceroses and tigers, but also several species of birds.
